About the Reserve project

The project is defined by two uncommon beliefs:

  • We believe that access to a stable currency should be a human right.
  • We believe that hyperinflation can, with time and persistence, be eradicated.

Motivated by these beliefs and by an interest in profit for ourselves, we build and operate financial software that helps people cope with hyperinflation, and we’re working on a currency to eventually make it a thing of the past.

Our mission is to provide every person in the world access to stable currency, in order to avert the intense humanitarian hardship that comes from hyperinflation. We are working to rebuild financial services in societies that are traumatized and stressed by decades of wealth destruction from high inflation and ongoing currency devaluation.

Our business generates revenue today by charging a spread (a type of fee) when users move money in or out of our app. Our long-term business model is based on the currency we are working on; we intend to participate, along with thousands of others, in the decentralized organization that operates that currency.

Today Reserve offers the opportunity to save, spend, and receive money through the Reserve app and a stable currency, the Reserve Dollar (RSV), which is a cryptocurrency that maintains 1-to-1 parity with the US dollar.

The project is still in the startup phase, but is well beyond just an idea. We process about 15,000 transactions daily, which amount to about $1.5 million in value moved per day, for users in Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, and the US.

Here’s a 5-min video intro from back when we were getting started that helps convey the nature of the project:
